A Big Thank you to our 2017 Summer PCM Team!

Prayer Warrior Team

We believe in the power of prayer! So, in addition to each staff member having their own personal prayer team, there are a group of dedicated men and women who pray for this ministry on a regular basis. This group of over a hundred people is scattered across the United States. They pray for the staff and Board of Directors by name. They pray for our upcoming events. They pray for the women and young ladies who will come in contact with this ministry…that they will see the Light of Jesus and be affected for His glory. They pray for wisdom and guidance as we make decisions and follow God’s leading. They pray for you! These men and women come from all over…from Arkansas to Pennsylvania to Colorado and Washington to South Carolina and Florida! They are lifting us up and praying protection and provision over Polished Cornerstones Ministry. We thank them for their willingness to serve through prayer. If you’re interested in joining our prayer warrior team, sign up for our updates HERE.

Short-Term Staff

Our short-term staff help with our Retreats and events. They are chosen yearly by the Board of Directors after an application and interview process. These girls and women are a huge blessing and we are grateful for their servant’s hearts! If you are interested in volunteering to help at one of our events or conferences, please contact us for an application!

In 2015, PCM saw the need for ground-work help from the people we are ministering to. Ambassadors are young women who are 14 years and older, and volunteer to promote our events in their local areas…schools, churches, neighborhoods, youth groups, drama and 4H clubs…or anywhere else they want to spread the word. They take our ministry to their spheres of influence and tell others about PCM. They are the backbone to getting the word out and inviting women and gals to our events. Their personal testimonies go far to reach others with the message of truth. These ladies are a huge help to us! If you are interested in spreading the work about PCM to your church, neighborhood, and/or school, please contact us for promotional materials!

Starting in 2016, PCM started a new type of one-on-one mentorship program. Our apprentices are chosen by recommendation and must be 15 years or older. They must be alumni of our Retreats and go through an interview and application process. They are paired one-on-one with a core staff member to assist in the planning and work of Polished Cornerstones through the busiest time of our year. This Apprenticeship program is a four-month commitment, from May through August. They travel with our team (during our events) and work hard along side our staff to make the PCM events unforgettable and life-changing for the girls we minister to. They do everything from helping plan, prepare, and set-up to hands-on help throughout our Retreats (shadowing their mentor in her responsibilities), and afterward assisting in follow up. PCM is big into mentorship and encouraging the next generation to walk in truth. This new program allows us the opportunity to disciple younger girls in their walk with the Lord and also give them a chance to put their faith into action through serving others. These girls are a huge blessing to us as they lift up our hands and who knows…maybe one day you’ll see them as a core staff member!

Faith Walker

Faith Walker

Staff Director

Faith is the oldest of nine and auntie to half a dozen people under two feet tall. She finds herself in unusual places she never imagined; like ministering in prisons, speaking to groups of women, blogging in the middle of the night, caretaking for people she loves, organizing events, leading Bible studies and the latest endeavor: finishing a book God compelled her to write.

When Faith isn’t doing the things she is surprised about, you can find her taking her niece to the park, reading a challenging book, or having coffee with a friend. Her primary calling is to the broken who crave the Hope that only Jesus can give. One of Faith’s greatest enjoyments in life is hanging out with multi-cultural, multi-aged, and various-staged individuals who all mirror God’s grand image.

Hannah Scully

Hannah Scully

Music Leader

Hannah is the fourth oldest in a family of ten children, which she loves. She especially loves playing with her nephews. Hannah enjoys spending her free time hanging out with others, whether it be playing a game or just chatting. She is also currently in nursing school and is hoping to work in Labor and Delivery one day.

Hannah is very excited to be involved with PCM because she believes that investing into others is one of the most important things you can do with your life. She has a burden, in particular, to invest in teenage girls as they are at a critical time in their lives with the decisions they have to make. PCM will encourage, convict, and ultimately help to equip you to be a warrior for Christ.

A passage that has been encouraging to her lately is Psalm 27:1. This verse has encouraged her to be bold for the Lord.

Rachel Calvas

Rachel Calvas

Conference Director

Rachel is the second oldest of five and the wife of Nathan. You can find her reading a good book when time allows. She is an elementary school teacher. Recently she started teaching the 2’s and 3’s at her church and found it surprisingly more interesting then she thought. She said, “The lessons are short, the energy high, but the joy they bring is totally worth it.”

When she is not teaching, she is spending time with her puppy Kooper or playing card or board games with her husband, family, and friends. Recently, she started an at home Bible study for women and has been enjoying every moment of it. She is looking forward to what God will bring next in her life.

Rebecca Walter

Rebecca Walter

Activities Director

Rebecca is the ninth born of ten children. She lives in North Eastern Indiana on the family farm. Last fall she began a job working for a family-owned business as a secretary.

For the last two years, Rebecca has been involved with a GEMS Girls Club. This club is designed for older women to come alongside younger girls and mentor them. She gets to work with 4th-6th grade girls and this has been such a joy to her as she spends times with the girls and gets to see them grow as they learn about Jesus.

She also loves spending her time babysitting, playing the piano, cooking, baking, playing volleyball, reading books, and spending time with family and friends. Her favorite book of the Bible is Romans.

Taylor Brown

Taylor Brown

Ambassador Coordinator

Taylor was raised in Edon, Ohio with three siblings and amazing parents. She grew up on a farm raising beef cattle and chickens. Her hobbies are showing cattle and spending time with her youth group. She loves to read and spend time with people (She’s a bit of a talker)! Her favorite Bible verse is Ecclesiastes 3:11, ``God has made everything beautiful in its time.`` She loves this verse because it reminds her that God made her beautiful, unique and special in many different ways. It also reminds her that He created her for such a time as this. She hopes to one day get to meet you in person and learn more about the person God has made you to be.

Elizabeth Schaffter

Elizabeth Schaffter

Registration/Small-group Coordinator

Elizabeth has been with PCM 4 years. She is married to her loving husband Austin. Elizabeth enjoys walking in the woods, bottomless pots of coffee, and long conversations in the kitchen. As Registration and Small Group Coordinator, Elizabeth loves seeing the Lord place each woman with the leader only God could have ordained. She is excited to see how the Lord will knit hearts together again this year. Currently her favorite verse is: “And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.” Colossians 3:14 NIV

Holly Loader

Holly Loader

The Book Lady

Holly was raised in a Christian home where Jesus was a welcome member and a very familiar friend. Holly's parents Jerry and Ginger Gilmore continue to be wonderful guides to her in her spiritual journey. Holly feels blessed to have been raised up in a home that put so much value on relationship with the Lord!

Presently, Holly can be found around the city of Hillsdale hanging out in coffee shops or just out talking with the people. Holly is a Public-School Teacher and has been for 23 years! Holly enjoys the opportunity to work daily with Kinders and Firsties. Holly is also wife to David (1995) and mother to Carson (2004). She enjoys watching her son grow into a man of integrity! You might also find Holly at the ball park rooting on her favorite player!

In Holly's spare time, she LOVES to read and share her passion for books with others. She has been a part of the PCM crew since the beginning and cannot wait to see old friends and meet some new ones! When you see Holly, be prepared for book talk!

 MaryEllen Walter

MaryEllen Walter

Prayer Leader

Maryellen is the 8th born of 10 children and loves being raised in a large Christian family. She grew up on the family farm in Northern Indiana. Over the course of the last 5 or 6 years the Lord has opened many doors for her to serve in her community, with each opportunity looking different: Driving a neighbor who is ill to her Dr. appointments 2-5 times each week, caregiving for some elderly people, helping with painting projects, cleaning houses, or doing photography for people. She don’t really have a work schedule, although somehow her schedule always gets full! But never too full for talking with a friend or someone who just needs to share what is on their heart.

MaryEllen loves being with people. She loves to sing with her family and friends. Volleyball is her favorite sport, and she loves being in the kitchen experimenting with new recipes. She also love it when her nephews are over and they help her make cookies or wash the dishes.

Maryellen is the Prayer Leader for PCM and loves it! She has had the joy of being on the staff team the past three years. The fellowship with other Christ-minded ladies, traveling with the team has made for many fun memories, and meeting many young women who are so eager to hear and learn more about Jesus. The best part about serving with PCM is how the Lord has worked in her life on a personal level. God has challenged her to rely fully on Him and walk in faith, believing that He is in control and will give her wisdom, grace and strength as she trusts. Her favorite Bible Verse is Hebrews 11:1.
